Friday night, a table of four pays the bill. Ovation sees the payment from the system you already use.

  2. 2

Saturday afternoon, they get a short note asking how dinner was, with a one-tap link to leave a review.

  3. 3

Saturday evening, a 5-star review mentions the short rib and your server, Jess. Ovation replies, thanks them for coming in, and passes the compliment on to Jess.

  4. 4

Monday morning, you ask Ovation for a post about this week's special. It writes one for Facebook, Instagram and your Google profile, and you schedule it in a couple of clicks.

Replies that mention the actual meal.

Diners write about specific dishes, the wait, the patio, the person who served them. Ovation's replies pick up on those details instead of pasting the same thank-you on every review. You choose which star ratings get answered automatically. Everything else waits for you with a reply already drafted, and you can get an email whenever one comes in, so a tough review never gets an answer you haven't seen.

More reviews from the people who already loved it.

Connect the payment system you already use and Ovation sends a review request by email or text after each visit. You set the timing and a minimum ticket size, so a $3 coffee doesn't trigger a request unless you want it to. You can also send requests by hand or upload a customer list.

Posts that don't need a marketing person.

Tell Ovation what's happening, like a new dish, a weekend special or a private event, and it writes the post, with an image if you want one, for Facebook, Instagram and your Google Business Profile. Edit it, schedule it, done.

Show up when people search for dinner nearby.

See where you rank on Google Maps for searches like "brunch in [your city]" or "best pizza near me", which restaurants rank around you, and whether your name, address and phone match across the directories diners use.

Know what people keep mentioning.

Ovation sorts your reviews into the topics that come up most, like food quality, service, wait times and price, so you can see what's working and what needs a word with the team.

When to ask for the review

For most restaurants, a request a couple of hours after the bill is paid works well: the meal is still fresh in their mind, and they're home with a minute to spare. Coffee shops and quick service often do better with a shorter delay. In Ovation you can pick anything from right away to 72 hours later, separately for each location.

Will the replies sound like a robot wrote them?

No. Each reply is written for that review, mentions what the diner actually talked about, and follows the tone you set, whether that's casual and friendly or more formal. You can read and edit any reply before it posts.

What happens with a bad review?

You decide which star ratings Ovation answers on its own. Reviews below that line wait for you with a reply already drafted, and you can get an email when one arrives, so you can post the draft, rewrite it, or take the conversation offline.

Which review sites does Ovation work with?

Google, where most people check reviews before choosing a local business. Ovation also checks that your details are correct on Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing and other directories.

Do I need to change my point-of-sale or payment system?

No. Ovation connects to the payment system you already use to know when someone has been a customer. If yours isn't supported yet, you can still send review requests by hand or from a customer list.

I have more than one location. Does that work?

Yes. Each location gets its own reviews, review link, request timing and rankings, and you manage them all from one login. The Team plan covers 2 to 10 locations.

How long does setup take?

Most restaurants are up and running in a few minutes: connect Google and Facebook, connect your payment system if you have one, and choose your reply settings.
